The most important things in life

Life is brief, and the most precious things can quickly become lost.
Sometimes, outside circumstances cause that loss. Occasionally, we induce ourselves to lose the things that mean the most to us.

Whether a life-changing circumstance happens or you momentarily do something out of nature that leads to irretrievable damage, you often only realize what you had once it’s gone.

That’s why you need to guard some fundamental aspects of your life with an emotion that can’t be tamed.

Our lives and priorities are all complexes. However, there are precious things in life that are pretty much common.

I would say that the most essential thing in your life is you. A healthy, loved, happy, spiritually rich, fearless, determined you. Have that version of yourself as your life’s vision, and never stop chasing it.

Our relationships are the most essential things in the world. They’re the most crucial factor for happiness and, in combination with your calling, tend to be our reasons to live. For most, the family is at the top of the list in terms of values and priorities.

Sometimes, it’s easy to disregard just how much family signifies to us. They’re the people we typically live with, and it’s hard to live with another person – no matter how much we like them. Love gives way to frustration and sometimes…we feel like we hate the other person.

However, your family is irreplaceable and precious, so you have to devote your time and energy to nurture those valuable relationships, not just for the sake of your relatives, but also for your own.

Good friends are hard to come by, so when you find one, you need to do everything you can to nurture that relationship.

A great friend can become like family. You forge an inseparable bond with someone whom you know, you can always count on — no matter how dark things get. A good friend is a confidant, a shoulder to lean on, and sometimes the voice of reason for us.

Always remember how lucky you are to have found someone you can genuinely call a good friend.

Love includes friends and family, your calling, and intimate relationships. But it also provides everything else you love and all your encounters with others. It consists of those things you enjoy doing, the stories you grew up with, and the kind interactions with strangers that remind you of the love that exists in the world.

These can seem like separate, unrelated things, but they are opportunities to experience love in its varying forms. Experiencing love can give our life a sense of meaning and purpose, like something else…

Your sense of meaning
It’s your passion, your muse. Your calling gives your life purpose and furnishes you with a feeling of vitality that makes everything more relaxed and more enjoyable. This is also how you make a difference.

Your calling is your life’s work. It’s your legacy. To find what you have a passion for, and to pursue that passion, is to find the vehicle you’ll use to contribute your greatness to the world.

This is one of those “you don’t know how much it means until it’s gone” type things. Many people will skip over this point, not giving it a second thought.

However, once you have even a single small health complication, you’ll know precisely just how important this is. At the first sign of difficulties, you realize that everything is jeopardized by bad health.

With good health, you can spend more time with friends and family, enjoy the love in your life, and follow your passion to your heart’s content. With bad health…you eventually, lose it all. So, take care of your health, so you have more time to enjoy the other most important things in your life.

In theory, that’s the most essential things in our lives. However, the problem will become more complicated when there is a conflict between one crucial thing and another. How about when a person in our family has a problem with our friends in another place. Or what if when nurturing family, we actually lose love, or ourselves?

Here is why life is so exciting. Because many exciting things in life actually are things that we have not known before. Because it is the mystery in life that actually becomes an “effectual recipe” for an extraordinary experience.

Mind and Heart

Man lives from his heart. Humans live in their hearts. The heart is a long journey. Humans follow them, to their satisfaction, their welfare, their happiness, and their God.

Various creatures prevented him, sometimes he hindered it. The heart is the center of the will that makes people laugh and cry, sad and happy, content or desperate.

A man wanders in his heart, the mind helps him, the mind must work as hard as it can, the mind needs to revolutionize, the mind cannot sleep, the mind must be driven faster than the speed of light.

The heart does not always understand exactly what he wants. He can only be oriented to his God to get the clarity and accuracy of his will.

The mind helps to get that clarity and determination, but the mind cannot explain anything about its God.

The mind serves his heart, the heart always asks the Lord. Before God, the mind is darkness and ignorance.

If the mind wants to reach its Lord, it conforms to the law of the dimensions of its heart. If not, the mind will offer damage, entrapment, and boomerang.

If the mind is only able to offer things to its heart, then the heart will be exposed to a vacuum, and the mind itself widens the distance from its Lord.

The body will melt to the ground. The mind will dissolve in time and space. The heart will melt in God.

If the degree of the heart is lowered to the ground, if the level of mind is preoccupied with chunks of metal, then in the certainty of melting into God, they will only be ready to become piles of wood, which are burned not by God’s love, but by fire.

If the heart is only guided by the body, then it will only be scared by the age limit, by death, by poverty, by ignorance.

If the mind is only taking care of the body, if the mind does not know the end, it will change greed nature, will bloom with pride, then be shocked and disappointed by everything that is produced.

Jakarta – Agats (Papua)

Screenshot from 2018-10-12 14-35-52Agats is the capital of the Asmat Regency in Papua, home to the Asmat tribe who are famous for their unique tribal sculpture and traditional mummification practice. Located on the south side of the island of “paradise bird,” with an area of nearly 30 thousand km2, with a population of 106,569 people, a density of only 3.59 people / km2. A very different figure compared to the capital city of Jakarta covering an area of 661.52 km2 with a density of 15,663 people / km2.

The journey to Agats is not easy, takes time and costs a lot. The trip from Jakarta alone takes at least more than 24 hours with several transits and changing planes. Precisely we leave right after midnight at 01:20 and will arrive in Timika (with transit routes in Makassar) at 09:30. In Timika there are no direct flights that can fly us on the same day, so we have to spend the night in Timika, to recommence the trip with small aircraft either with Aviastar or Trigana airlines which frequently use propeller type of small plane with a maximum capacity of 18 passengers the next day.

Travel costs as mentioned earlier are not small. At least spend IDR 4 million for a trip from Jakarta to Agats. If calculated in total, the travel costs incurred have reached IDR 8 million. Don’t forget that the number does not include the necessary transit expense in Timika due to the absence of connecting flights. Let’s compare the travel costs that must be incurred for the trip to Agats if the promo the same amount is equivalent to the price of a return ticket Jakarta – Dubai or Jakarta – Tokyo. Not a number that can be said to be small.

hipwee-www.panoramio.com_-750x422On arrival at Agats, we will see how the differences in nature, facilities, social and cultural environment are very different from what we commonly encounter in big cities in Indonesia. Quiet, quiet, limited facilities as if taking us to a dream. It’s just that this is a reality on Indonesian soil.

There is a unique feature of Agats. The condition of muddy soil and swamp makes this city must stand with road facilities in the form of boards, at a glance this road resembles a pier. The streets in Agats city resemble bridges made of ironwood. As time and technology develop, the upgraded version of these bridges took shape in stronger concrete. Until now, the development of Agats was carried out on this unique street. All buildings adjust to the form of the stage houses. The primary means of transportation in this swamp town are motorbikes, especially electric motorcycles.

This limited condition makes local governments and residents adapt to these conditions. The wooden bridge road that extends across Agats is not able to withstand heavy motorbike loads, let alone cars. Now, in addition to electric motors, Agats residents who are mostly migrants from outside Asmat rely on sea transportation in the form of motorboats or just walking if they are still inside the central residential area. Another limitation is the lack of clean water supply. The Agats have survived with rainwater collected in water storage. Swampland conditions make this land challenging to provide clean water.

937091369The next story about Agats will continue in later editions.

6.4 magnitude of Earthquake (Gempa) in Situbondo, East Java – Indonesia

I just felt the earthquake recently, even though the epicenter is considerably far from where I live (+/- 200 km away). The chandelier in the living room wobbly, and I felt nausea up until now. It turns out that the magnitude is 6.4 Richter Scale, that’s the reason why I perceived the shaking quite strong.

I hope that everybody who lives nearby the epicenter is safe and no damage or whatsoever happened to you and your family.

May peace be with you.

Global tourism phenomenon

Global tourism shows a comparatively stable increase from year to year. Economically, international tourism increase continues to show a rising trend of tourist arrivals in 2017. In fact, in 2017 the number of foreign tourists recorded the highest number in the period 2010-2017. Approximately 1,326 billion tourists traveled between countries in 2017; this phenomenon progressed 7% from 2016.

All of these foreign trips contribute globally to more than 1.34 trillion dollars. Although it must be admitted that Europe is still a leading tourist destination with a proportion of 51%, followed sequentially by the Asia Pacific (24%), America (16%), Africa (5%) and the Middle East (4%). However, if we glance at the proportion of foreign exchange receipts from tourism, the cut is slightly different. European tourism foreign exchange numbers were 39%, followed by the Asia Pacific by 29%, America 24%, Middle East 5% and Africa 3%.

From the above percentage, it can be regarded that tourist visits to America are the most expensive. Because of the 209 million tourist visits, America was able to produce a foreign exchange of 326 billion dollars. This reality means that foreign tourists traveling to America spend an average of US $ 1,560 per person. While the Asia Pacific only recorded foreign exchange revenues from foreign tourists on average of US $ 1,207, followed by the Middle East at the US $ 1,172, then Europe at the US $ 773, and Africa at the US $ 587.

If we view at the phenomenon of foreign tourists visiting the Asia Pacific, 24% contribution of international tourists, and 29% of this foreign exchange consists of 323 million tourists and foreign exchange receipt transactions of 390 billion dollars. This figure is undoubtedly the cumulative result of all 58 countries within the region, means that each country on average should receive revenues of 6.7 billion dollars from international tourism. (ay)

Sementara Asia Pasifik hanya mencatatkan pengeluaran wisatawan mancanegara rata-rata sebesar US$ 1,207, disusul dengan Timur Tengah sebesar US$ 1,172, lalu Eropa sebesar US$ 773, dan Afrika sebesar US$ 587.

(ay)
